Living in Abbeyfield
Abbeyfield supported sheltered houses normally accommodate between 6-16 older people. Resident each have their own room which they can furnish with favourite pieces and treasured posessions. Some rooms have facilities for making breakfast and refreshments; sometimes there are shared pantries. Every house has well-equipped bathrooms, some with special adaptations for disabled people. Most societies offer rooms with en-suite facilities
The Abbeyfield way of life provides a balance of privacy, support and security that can be ideal for older people who no longer feel happy living alone but do not wish to share with relatives. The support is provided by paid full-time members of staff and local volunteers.
Since moving into Abbeyfield house, many residents have found a new purpose in life......
